You're checking out negatives that are a 100 years old. They've been sealed in Antarctic ice for that long! It was discovered by a team of Antarctic conservators, and it contained 22 unprocessed cellulose nitrate negatives.

They believe they were snapped by the Ross Sea Party back in 1915, when they attempted to set up supply depots on the New Zealand side of Antarctica.

The negatives were discovered in a corner of a supply depot, originally built by Robert Falcon Scott for a doomed expedition to the South Pole in 1910-1913. Learn more about it at the links: [Antarctic Heritage Trust via Imaging Resource]
