Designed by Ruben Beckers, this is the kleinergleich5. It means "less than five". The reason? This table is so light it is only 4.5 kilos (10 pounds). How is this possible?

Instead of solid wood, there is a grid of thin strips of wood creating a rigid structure to support the table top. Beckers explain that it is safe to assume that at just 4.5 kilos, it is probably the lightest wooden table in the world.

The table was designed during the Wood*Transformation project at Kassel School of Art and Design, and is currently on display as part of the [D3] Design Talents exhibition at imm cologne. [Dezeen]
