NASA scientists are going to create the coldest spot in the universe and it will be on the International Space Station.

Dubbed The Cold Atom Lab, it will be an atomic refrigerator that aims to push temperatures down to unstudied depths of 100 pico-Kelvin.

At these ridiculously frigid temperatures, matter should stop being gas, liquid, or solid and instead opt to assume a total quantum state of being.

The Cold Atom Lab isn't due to be set up until 2016. [ScienceAtNASA via Geek]
