Hard to believe, but it's been nearly a decade since the birth of Facebook. Back then, the site known as "thefacebook.com" only had about 650 users and was just starting to go viral at Harvard.

Writer Alan Tabak of the Harvard Crimson was one of the very first to report about the budding social network. In the article, Zuckberger had explained that he built the site because he was tired of waiting for Harvard to get its act together:
I think it’s kind of silly that it would take the University a couple of years to get around to it. I can do it better than they can, and I can do it in a week.
