Bendy electronics are becoming a trend, and soon, one day, we may be able to roll up our phones or tablets and fit them into our pockets. That reality is becoming closer with scientists discovering the use of gold nanomesh material - it makes the perfect surface for electronics because it is flexible, conductive and transparent.

The researchers over University of Houston took gold nanowires and created a mesh material, and it was embedded on a transparent polymer. Since gold doesn't oxidize easily, it gives it a better overall long term conductivity. After being stretched to 160 percent, the nanomesh material only lost a portion of conductivity when stretched to its limit. Conductivity returned when it snapped back to its original form.

While there's still a long way more to go for actual bendable and flexible devices, this is a good start!
