FingerReader by the Fluid Interfaces Group at the MIT media lab is a high tech way to help the visually impaired to read. It scans printed text and narrates it aloud.

As your fingertip follows along in a book, a camera in the ring records and analyzes the words, which are then said in a robotic voice. It is also a translator, as it is able to understand another language too. Check out the video demo below: [Fluid Interfaces Group]
