WhatsApp announced at today's Mobile World Congress that it is branching out into phone calls. According to CEO Jan Koum, the free VoIP feature should be coming to Android and iOS versions this spring.

Windows Phone and BlackBerry will follow after that. WhatsApp will now join the ranks of Microsoft-owned Skype and Google's Hangouts.
