Apple announced its new in-car iPhone integration system and it is called CarPlay. The system is designed to eyes-free and will allow users to safely use their phones for information, entertainment and communication while you focus on the road.

The battle for your dashboard is heating up! Apple claims that the system was designed from the ground up to provide drivers with an incredible experience using their iPhone in the car. That probably means, Siri will be accompanying you while you drive. You'll give voice commands to play music, dictate text and deal with incoming calls.

The system can be controlled using a car's native infotainment system and in some models, there will be a dedicated voice control button the steering wheel.

CarPlay will also integrate Apple's Maps into the driving experience, though, we're not sure if the system is able to connect with Google Maps instead. Apple's Maps will apparently "anticipate destinations based on recent trips via contacts, emails or texts, and provides routing instructions, traffic conditions and ETA," and Siri will be there to provide you turn-by-turn directions.

CarPlay will make its debut at this week's Geneva Motor Show in models by Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo. Other automakers are following suit too, like Nissan, Peugeot, Jaguar, BMW, Land Rover, and General Motors.

It will be available in "select cars shipping in 2014." [Apple]
