'Hot Facebook Mom' Still Thinks Moms Everywhere Are Just Making Excuses For Being Flabby
2014.03.11
Not this again. Looks like Maria Kang a.k.a. "hot Facebook mom" is really keen on hanging on to her 15 minutes of fame.
The blogger and founder of a fitness nonprofit first made headlines back in October 2013 after a photo of her surrounded by her three young sons captioned it with "What's your excuse?" went viral on Facebook.
Although Kang claimed the post was meant to be inspirational, that didn't keep critics from slamming her for "fat-shaming" other mothers who were too busy to focus on getting fit after popping out a baby.
Since then, she's started the "No Excuse Moms Movement" campaign which encourages moms to gather for regular, free workouts in public spaces. The campaign has more than 700 local groups of mothers backing her cause. Kang told Yahoo! Shine:
“I feel like my original image and message sparked an international dialogue that woke people up and made them question their excuses. ... I strongly believe that health starts at home and that in order to raise a healthy child, you need to be a healthy parent.”
To promote this movement, she recently shared this scantily clad photo below which includes helpful arrows highlighting the parts her body that we should be envious about. Thanks a lot, we guess? Post by Maria Kang.
