If your competitor buys a drone company, you buy a drone company too! The Wall Street Journal confirmed that Google will be buying Titan Aerospace. It is the same high-altitude drone company Facebook had been in talks with.

What does Google plan to do with the drones? Connecting the world like Facebook? Snapping more pictures on the ground?

Their new drone team will get to business with the established Project Loon. Its plans is to cover the world in a blanket of Wi-Fi.

Titan's drones will run around collecting "real-time, high-resolution images of the Earth" in addition to supporting voice and data services. That could mean internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. Anywhere you go.
