Net neutrality is a hot topic, though not one that is easily understood by the everyday user. Net neutrality is in jeopardy and certain service providers are trying to gain legal leverage over the speed of data they offer to consumers.

The reason this matters is because if given the power, Internet companies could slow down access to their competitors' sites while giving high speeds to the ones they own. Or they could even make you pay them a fee.
