These "Women Only" Parking Spots in a Chinese Mall Are Extra-Wide and Pink

Does this seem wrong to you? A mall in Northern China has sparked criticism after it created special parking spots for women. Sounds normal right? Except, they are 11 inches wider than normal spots. They are also painted bright pink.
The spots are deemed “respectfully reserved for ladies.”
Bloggers are voicing some mixed feelings on Chinese social media sites:

One (female) manager at the mall, Yang Hongjun, said that officials just wanted to make parking easier for women.“Women make up most of our customers,” she said. “If their parking spaces are larger, it’s only for practical reasons. It doesn’t mean that women drive less well than men.”
