Ballet shoes don't look like they require much thought. After all, they are kinda like cloth you just wrap around your feet with a tad of cushion for your toes. It turns out, there's much more that goes on when making them.

This new documentary explores how ballet shoes are made to sustain graceful movements.

Freed of London have been making ballet shoes BY HAND since 1929.

They use a method called turnshoe. They are turned inside-out and turned through to protect the stitching.

They are also heavily layered.

The factory can only make 30 to 35 a day per maker, producing 4,500 to 5,000 pairs a week.

Remember, these are all made by hand.
