Research Says a Big Engagement Ring Means More Likely to Divorce

Is bigger better? Will the happiness of your marriage depend on the size of the rock you buy for your wife-to-be? According to new research, bigger, might not be better after all.
Their findings include:

The researchers suggest that spending more on the ring seem to indicate couples feeling pressure to have a more expensive wedding they can afford.
Which means, don't have such a lavish wedding if you CAN'T AFFORD IT.
More money more problems? More like the opposite.
The new study found that "marriage duration is inversely associated with spending on the engagement ring and wedding ceremony."
Their findings include:
Spending between $2,000 and $4,000 on an engagement ring was significantly associated with an increase in risk of divorce in the men surveyed compared to spending between $500 and $2,000.
Having no engagement ring and having wedding expenses below $1,000 was associated with increases in divorce.
