The owner of a pet shop in Washington state was setting out to prove that it's healthier to eat pet food than human foods. Dorothy Hunter was eating only dog, cat, and bird food for 30 days, and it's all started when she reached for pet treats when she didn't have time to eat at work and was surprised by the taste of the healthy ingredients.

Jaclyn London, M.S., R.D., a senior clinical dietician at Mount Sinai Hospital stated that, "Yes, the ingredients listed in some pet foods may be wholesome and similar to real foods humans eat on a daily basis... But someone eating pet foods also runs a significant risk of contracting foodborne illness from eating foods not intended for the human gut."
