1. Only sheets are changed every day at most hotels. Blankets are washed weekly and bed covers might get some soap and water monthly. Ask for everything to be cleaned

2. The valet is not responsible for your car. Hand your keys over at your own risk.

3. Hotel TV remotes are filthy, crawling with rhinovirus - a germ that can cause the common cold. They are rarely cleaned.

4. Hotel pools are okay because they are highly chlorinated which kills most bacteria. The tables and lounge chairs on the other hand are probably very very filthy.

5. To get a cheaper rate, call the hotel to book your room and politely ask if there's any way to reduce the rate. They're pretty flexible. After all, it's really competitive out there.
