While it's hard for the normal Joe to value how much art is worth, it's safe to say everyone finds something pretty. But is this piece of painting pretty enough to cost someone $46.5 million? It was sold at a Sotheby's auction this week in New York.

The artist behind the painting is Mark Rothko, who rose to prominence in the 60s before he committed suicide in 1970. The painting was owned by Rachel "Bunny" Mellon, before she passed away in March last year.
