Newborn babies don't have good eyesight at first. It's all still developing. So what do they see exactly? A new study published in the Journal of Vision used looping videos to determine just what and how much can they see.

So imagine doing this:

You'll have to do it real close. A two- or three-day-old baby is able to make out faces and some expressions  from 8 to 12 inches away (or about 30 centimeters). Anything further will be too blurry for them.
