Going to the cinema is getting more expensive every year and if you want to watch a film on the biggest screen, for a family ticket you are looking at close to sixty pounds. The situation is only getting worse because cinemas are constantly pushing new tech like 3D, Imax and now 4DX.

These gimmicks are becoming more and more unavoidable and are only adding to the cost of seeing the latest blockbusters the way they were meant to be experienced. As such, we think it time to switch to home entertainment in a big way. There is no better starting place than designing an entire room in your home for enjoying entertainment media.

Step 1: Choose Your Screen

Now, you may make the mistake of thinking to get a cinematic experience at home you will need a massive screen in your living room. But, with new 4K technology, this is no longer true. With a screen of about 70 inches you will have a picture you can see from a distance that is as clear as looking through a window into another world. Our preference is always buying a TV because we believe the picture quality is better, and the setup is easier. However, you can opt for a projector system if you do not mind a bit of handiwork on the ceiling. The choice is yours.

You can also think about a 3D set but be aware that some films are better than others. You can use a site like Blu-ray.com to check the reviews of different movies.

Step 2: Add The Sound

Something to be aware of is that TVs no longer come with big speakers attached to them. This is the real reason TVs look thinner and smaller these days. Instead you have to choose whether to buy a soundbar or a set of speakers to put around your room. If you want the true surround sound experience we suggest you choose the latter option. However, this is more expensive.

Step 3; Get The Sources

You may like the idea of getting physical copies of films and if this is the case you need to start collecting movies. But with services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, there is no longer a need for physical copies of films and tv shows. If you have a good internet provider you can stream media straight to your tv with no buffering time. You can find affordable cable television and high speed internet packages online that will provide all the media you could ever want.

Step 4: Buy Some Comfy Furniture

Your room is almost complete but the final touch is particularly important. One problem with the cinema is uncomfortable chairs. At home this is not an issue as you can kit your room out with comfy, stylish furniture that will make watching movies at home the perfect experience.

If you follow these steps, we guarantee, you will save money because you will never feel the need to go to the cinema again.
