Red Wine Can't Make Up Its Mind. Is NOT GOOD For You Now
2016.01.09
First it was good. Now it's bad. According to new alcohol guidelines, drinking red wine regularly is bad for your health. There goes all its supposed health benefits from preventing cancer to heart disease and burning fat.
Experts are saying that no level of regular drinking is without risks. But back in 1995, the guidance said that drinking small amounts, especially red wine, could cut heart disease risk.
Except now, it's no longer that.
Taking this into account alongside all the known acute and chronic risks to health from drinking even at low levels, supports the conclusion of the group that there is no justification for recommending drinking on health grounds, nor for starting drinking for health reasons. This is what the new guidelines say:
- Don't drink more than 14 units per week.
- Have several drink-free days a week.
- If you are pregnant, do not drink at all.
- Don't binge drink. (duh)
- You should drink more slowly, alternating with water.
The risk of developing cancer increases with any amount you drink on a regular basis.
This is how much one unit is:
Red wine. Can't make up its mind.
