Stranger Things

Possibly the most anticipated second season of the year, the Stranger Things cast returned this year for more surreal, sci-fi adventures. If you haven’t seen season one, stop what you’re doing immediately, and you’ll soon understand the hype.

With great characters, nostalgic 1980’s throwbacks, and a killer premise that’s sure to leave you on the edge of your seat, the Duffer Brothers drama has everything you could ever want from a TV show. Plus, aside from his excessive smoking, who doesn’t want to be more like Chief Hopper? If you’ve seen the series, by all means, channel your favorite 1980’s cop, but switch to vaping instead and protect your health. Mt Baker Vapor offers some unusual flavored vape juices that will leave you feeling cooler than the Hawkins detective in no time.

Orange Is the New Black

This series is based on the real-life memoir of Piper Kerman, a high-flying public relations executive who wound up in a woman’s federal prison for acting as a drug mule in her youth. Season five was released back in June, following the aftermath of a dramatic death in Litchfield Penitentiary at the end of season four. This new season promises all the incredible highs and lows of early OITNB, but don't skip the first few seasons if you're new to the show, as the early episodes are arguably the best. If you want to read the book before you watch the series, you can learn more about the true story online

The Keepers

If you’re a fan of true crime, then you’ll love The Keepers. The seven-episode documentary series investigates the unsolved death of Sister Cathy, a well-loved English teacher who disappeared in 1960’s Baltimore and was sadly found in a rubbish dump. The series follows two of her former pupils as they try to find out what happened, exposing some dark truths about Baltimore’s greatest institutions in the process. This show goes beyond the traditional “whodunit” style of most crime documentaries and offers something much more captivating, devastating, and impactful.

The Crown

Fascinated by the British monarchy? Then you’ll love this biographical account of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. Filled with romance, drama, and political rivalries, The Crown is far from the pompous TV drama you might expect. Claire Foy’s performance as Elizabeth is stunning and relatable, and her supporting cast is equally talented. If you haven’t seen season one, you have a few weeks to catch up before the second series hits the screen this December.

Master of None

Master of None follows the personal and professional life of Dev, a 30-year-old New York actor played by comedian Aziz Ansari. If you’re looking for straight-up comedy-drama, it doesn’t get much better than this Emmy award-winning series. You can watch series one and two on Netflix now.
