If you have been considering taking a holiday in Vanuatu, you're not alone. There's a reason this Pacific island nation has garnered so much attention over the past several decades. Offering the stunning beaches, friendly locals, and outstanding snorkelling & diving opportunities that you would expect from a top-notch Pacific island destination, Vanuatu delivers all of this and more. The unique sites and experiences that can be experienced in Vanuatu make this a truly special holiday destination. Read on to see what experiences, places, and activities you won't want to miss!

Visit the Volcano

Very few volcanoes are approachable on foot to tourists. This is doubly so when it comes to volcanoes that are still active. Enter Mount Yasur. This active volcano is located in Vanuatu and is popular with visitors from around the world and offers some truly alien and incredible landscapes that will give you plenty of pictures to fill up the vacation rolls or social media albums. Mount Yasur should be on the top of your list for any Vanuatu holiday trip!

Snorkelling or Wreck Diving Anyone?

There are multiple places that are amazing to visit underwater but two in particular do stick out. For snorkelers Million Dollar Point is a great option that creates a uniquely strange experience snorkelling among jeeps, vehicles, and other modern pieces of equipment. Apparently in a trade dispute a disagreement was so bad that an American cargo ship straight out dumped millions of dollars in cargo to sink rather than deliver it to British or French ports. A funny story, and this has made a fascinating ecosystem to snorkel through.

If you're a bit more advanced and enjoy wreck diving, then you will want to check out the USS Coolidge. This is considered one of, if not the best, wreck dive in the world by many. Close to shore, in clear water, well-preserved, there is a ton to explore and enjoy here in the underwater wonderland.

Traditional Village

The Yakel tribe on Tanna Island are extremely friendly, hospitable, and traditional. As in no Wi-Fi, little modern technology, and still wearing grass skirts and little else like the natives of old. The traditional village is a fascinating modern look at people who still live happily like the old ways in a modern era. Visit and interact with amazingly friendly people, and the send-off dance is really something that you will want to experience firsthand!

Promise you'll be smiling the rest of the day after a visit here.

Beach Bumming & Bar Hopping

Champagne Beach is world famous and its name is well earned. This is the most beautiful of many beautiful beaches, and there are dozens of truly top-notch options. Feel free to jump from one to another, playing beach bum until you find your favourite one. There are a variety of great laid-back island bars with very unique local drinks where you can talk to locals, enjoy a fresh meal with great drinks, and relax the way you feel like.

Underwater Post Card?

Ever send an underwater post card? This isn't a joke, but in Vanuatu there is an underwater mailbox that gets checked, and postcards are picked up and then mailed. So, you can literally send an underwater post card to let everyone know just how much fun you've been having on holiday!
