Microsoft Says Internet Explorer 11 Is 30% Faster Than Others
2013.09.19
Firefox and Chrome have gained a whole lot of traction compared to Internet Explorer, but it still remains the most popular web browser. Microsoft wants to keep it that way so they've come up with Internet Explorer 11.
The company released a "preview version" of the next incarnation of the browser for Windows 7, IE 11. Microsoft says IE 11 runs 30% faster than other browsers, according to benchmark tests.
It supports multi-touch gestures and has many features for Windows 8.1 but allows those features to be present in Windows 7 when users "downgrade" from Windows 8 to 7.
The browser has some new features for developers, too providing support for something called F12 developer tools, which helps Web developers analyze their HTML code. Plus, it supports a Web standard called WebGL for 3D graphics.
