Pinterest announced that it was going to experiment with its first paid advertising product, Promoted Pins. Some users have reportedly seen those advertisements today.

Promoted Pins operate like Twitter's Promoted Tweets and Facebook's Promoted Posts ad products.

Businesses pay to show certain pins at the top of search results and category feeds. And they blend quite seamlessly with the rest of the non-paid pins. Check it out above. Which is a Promoted Pin?!

Ben Silbermann, co-founder and CEO of Pinterest, said Pinterest is only exploring promoted pins with "select businesses" for now.
