The new Tumblr, Swoosh Art, compiles paintings flanked with Nike logos to celebrate the uneasy relationship between art and commerce.

“Obviously, the dance between artists and advertisers is always difficult to figure out,” said comedian and expert advertiser Scott Aukerman in a recent interview. '

This new Tumblr imagines what it would be if, say, a sponsor like Nike had been around back then.

Created by art director Davide Bedoni, the Swoosh Art project takes notable paintings from the renaissance and beyond, and turns them into unabashed Nike ads. The swoosh is inserted in each painting, as you'll see in the images below:
