Design

The new Kuga is much kinder on the eyes than its predecessor. This is largely thanks to the the large grille at the front and the new set of head and taillights. Inside, the Kuga is spacious enough to appeal to families, plus the cabin meets the usual high standards that have come to be expected of Ford. There are six trim levels to choose from and a number of options to select, so the scope for personalisation is large.

Performance

Both petrol and diesel options are capable of 0-62 in under 11.2 and can both reach speeds of over 116mph. The torque vectoring system helps you to grip to the road and stay on your line, plus it also delivers a more engaging and responsive drive. Driver aids such as Active City Stop, Lane Keeping Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition improve the performance too.

Running Costs

The front-wheel-drive 1.5-litre diesel is the best option for those with running cost concerns. This version delivers up to 64.2mpg whilst emitting 115g/km of CO2. The EcoBoost engine features start-stop technology to help bring running costs down too, so running costs are generally quite low when compared to the competition.

Technology

In addition to the great driver aids, Ford has boosted the SYNC 3 infotainment system and features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto integration, electric heated seats, touchscreen sat navigation and a heated steering wheel. This all ensures a smooth, safe and enjoyable experience in the new Ford Kuga.

Boot

Boot space is a key factor in the SUV market and the Kuga offers a respectable 456-litre boot. In addition to this, the rear seats can fold down to create an impressive 1,603-litre load area which will be more than enough for most motorists. The new Kuga also features an automatic tailgate which can be opened by waving your foot under the bumper.

Safety

In terms of safety, the Kuga achieved a five-star EuroNCAP crash test rating and the standard safety equipment ensures that this is one of the safest automobiles on the roads.

Prices

The price to buy the car new ranges from just under £22,000 up to £35,500 for the top spec version. It is certainly worth looking at reputable used car dealership like Motorpoint, where you should be able to find the new Kuga for more affordable prices. Many of these places will also have a range of finance options for you to choose from.

Overall, the Kuga has made necessary improvements to ensure that this is now one of the best mid-sized SUVs on the market. It is fiercely competitive, but you cannot go wrong with the Kuga in terms of practicality, comfort and safety - key factors when it comes to buying an SUV.
