You may complain just why road construction takes so long. After all, it seems pretty simple right? Level the road, Pour some sand, tar, whatever. And flatten it and you're done. Right? Well, its a lot harder than that. Building a bridge on the other hand, is harder than building a road.

Here's some 42,000 hours of work time lapsed down to a 4 minute video showing how San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was built. It's also quake proof.

The modified bridge is designed to handle the strongest possible quake that's likely to hit the area within the next 1,500 years.
