French architect Jean Prouvé is also known as the grandaddy of prefab. The whole idea around prefab was to offer affordable solutions. What will he think if he found found one of these homes is now on sale for $2.5 million?

Patrick Seguin is a French art dealer who has championed Prouvé for decades. He took apart one of the architect's prefabricated homes and packed it into ten containers and sent it across the Atlantic ocean by ship where it arrived in Miami in time for the Art Miami event. The whole process of assembling the home took less than two days.

The 1945 design in question—called the 8x8 Demountable House for its 8-by-8 meter dimensions—is one of only two that were ever built of that particular design. Of the 160-home series Prouvé designed in all, less than 20 were ever prototyped.
