Voice recorders are kind of passe these days, since smartphones can already do the job of recording audio. But when you really need to record lengthy ones, a voice recorder is still the best thing for the job.

Olympus has made one even better, and it has built-in Wi-Fi that lets you control its new DM-901 from a smartphone app.

Instead of getting as close as possible to a presentation in the front seat, you can simply pace it on the podium and sit wherever you please and start and stop recording from your phone. You can even adjust the microphone's pickup pattern from afar.

The $200 DM-901 also lets you snap photos on your smartphone and associate them to a recording, so it's easier to search through long lists of audio files and find exactly the one you want. The voice recorded also allows you to upload your recordings to Dropbox.
