Following is a step to step guide as to how you can use CHKDSK command file to repair the errors in your hard disk drive:

Double click on the “My Computer”icon and select the hard disc which you would like to check.
After selecting the particular hard drive, right-click on it, and a new window would appear. Click on the “Properties” selection on the new window and then click on “Tools”.
“Check Now” tab will appear. After clicking on it, a dialogue box would appear as “Check DiskOptions”. Click on it.

After following the steps mentioned above, you can run the CHKDSK command file using one of the below procedures:

In order to run the CHKDSK command in the read-only mode, just click on “Start”.
In order to fix the errors without checking any of the bad sectors, select the checkbox displaying “Automatically fix file systems” and then click “Start”.
And last but not the least, in order to repair any of the bad sectors and recover lost data, select the checkbox displaying “Select for and attempt recovery of bad volumes” and then press “Start”.
