Apple Maps was a disaster, but they've gotten better since. It's no surprise to hear that Apple is still trying to make them better, and iOS 8 will be all about that.

According to sources who told 9to5Mac, iOS 8 will feature lots of "under-the-hood changes", and that includes an overhaul to the Maps application. They will use data from their recently acquired startups like BroadMap, Embark, and HopStop.

Apple will also possibly highlight points of interests like airports, train stations, freeways and more.

That's good news, but if only those features were already here like most popular Maps applications.

There's also a report that Apple might enhance their maps further by adding an augmented reality option, which sounds neat.

Though before they do anything like that, they'd better test it thoroughly before it becomes another messed up app.
