It's never easy to learn a new instrument, if you don't have any musical background to begin with that is. To make things simple, this clever projection system takes all the hard work away. And kind of makes it fun too in the process.

The Projected Instrument Augmentation System aka PIANO, was developed by musicians and researchers at the University of Ulm in Germany. The system uses a series of blocks to indicate what keys need to be played next.

The system gives players advance notice of how a song is progressing and shows each block's color indicating what finger should be used to play it.

Sounds like even old dogs can learn new tricks with this one. [NewScientist via Newlaunches]
