We've always been told to eat this and that because it's good for our health and that certain foods do certain things for us. Eat more fruits and vegetables to prevent cancer! Drink coffee to avoid dementia! There's a lot of "superfoods" around, but which ones aren't actually super?

The team at Information is Beautiful have visualized the scientific or lack of evidence behind what they dub as Snake Oil Superfoods. They break down the hard data in their site.

The colored bubbles seen corresponds to a specific food and a specific claim. Garlic tops the chart with strong trials supporting that it lowers blood pressure, but bottoms out with no backup that it functions as a cancer treatment.

There's more.
