Have you ever wondered whether you’re bad at buying gifts? Some people seem to be natural gift givers. They come up with wonderful ideas, and everybody who receives a gift from them is astounded and delighted. Don’t feel like this describes you? This could mean you’re a bit rubbish at buying presents. Some people are grateful to be given anything, of course, but it doesn’t hurt to know if you’re a good gift giver or not. Read on to find out some of the telltale signs…

You Buy Them Last Minute

If you’re buying gifts last minute, you won’t usually be putting that much thought into them. Last minute buying can lead to buying things on impulse, and then regretting it later on. You’ll be in such a rush to buy a decent gift, that you won’t see it’s absolutely awful. You might even buy it from the supermarket or some other obscure place, which usually isn’t the best place to get a gift. Try to leave yourself plenty of time when it comes to gift buying so you can give great gifts

You Buy The Same Thing For Multiple People

If you find one thing and then buy it for multiple people, you’re not being very thoughtful either. In rare cases, this can be a good idea. Usually, it’s better to personalize your gift choices depending on who you’re giving to. Not everybody likes candles, or to read...you get the drift. Try to make your gifts more personal. This doesn’t mean they have to be expensive, as long as you’re smart!

You Never See Anybody Using The Gifts You Give

Do you buy people things, and then wonder why you never see people use them? Maybe you’ve never caught your mother wearing that nice jumper you bought for her. Or maybe you’re wondering what your sister did with that pretty ring. If they aren’t using them, they might hate them and not have the guts to tell you. Really listening to people about their likes, dislikes, and interests is the key to buying them awesome gifts. If you know somebody you love is fussy about the clothes they wear, why would you buy them something to wear? Take a look at things like the Hawkin’s Bazaar killer gadgets quiz to see if anything you’ve bought, or are planning on buying is on there. You don’t want to be responsible for any accidents!

You Don’t Bother To Find Out More

Can’t be bothered to have a little snoop around? Then you’re obviously not prepared to go out and buy thoughtful gifts. As previously mentioned, finding out more is the key to becoming known as a great gift giver. Is there anything a person you’re buying for always seems to talk about? Do they have a subscription to a certain magazine, or are they are member of a certain club? What do they do for work? What’s their dream job? The more you know, the more creative you can get!
