Have you ever given your partner the silent treatment? Have you ever tried resolving an issue but your partner participates by giving you nothing but silence? Think not saying anything is the best way to stop a fight? Stop doing this. New research says it doesn't work.

Researchers found from 74 studies that couples who engage in a particular pattern of avoidance can ruin their relationship.

The withdraw pattern happens when one party approaches the other with silence.
