Paintball is a fun sport to play with your pals now and then. It gives you an adrenaline rush and a taste of a real battlefield. There are even paintball tournaments where the best players compete with one another to be the champions.

If you want to turn your amateur game into a full-on pro-mode, you need to take it seriously and not as a recreational sport. Here are ten tips which will help you become a better player at paintball.

1. Battle Plan

The first thing you must do is create a battle plan. You don’t want to roam around the battle area like a bunch of headless chickens.

The best course of action is to be ready with a sound plan before the fighting begins. The goal is to have fun, but if you want to win, you must have a strategy in place and stick to it.

2. Communication

Paintball is a team sport, and communication between the team members is critical if you want to succeed. It won’t help if you have a plan, but half of your team members are not following it.

All of the team members should be serious and dedicated to paintball. You can use codes to communicate with one another and execute your plans to stay ahead of the opposition.

3. Always on the move

Being static can cost you dearly in paintball. Here, you must always be on the move and be ready to prowl. But this doesn’t mean that you should run around in random directions.

Instead, it would be best if you moved smartly, track your enemies, wait for the right moment, and strike with all your might.

4. Be wary of your surroundings

Your surroundings can help you a great deal if you know how to use them properly. Usually, paintball battle arenas are full of hidden booby-traps and whatnot.

Scan the area carefully and form a mental map of your nearby environment. This will give you an edge over your opponents.

5. Element of surprise

The element of surprise can be a game-changing tactic if executed in the right manner. The goal is not to let the enemy anticipate your moments and surprise him at the right moment.

You’ll need to blend into your surroundings for this to happen, which you can do effectively by using masks.

6. Keep it simple

Don’t try to overcomplicate things and try to keep it as simple as possible. This is not a real battle, and your priority should be to have a good time.

If you focus too much on planning, then you might not enjoy it that much.

7. Stealth is key

Paintball is not the sport for you if you think you can win it by going all guns blazing.

You’ll have limited ammo, and going out in the open makes you vulnerable to enemy fire. It might also cause you an injury if you’re not careful enough.

8. Pyrotechnics

Some paintball centers will also have various pyrotechnics, which will dramatically improve your overall experience.

These pyrotechnics include different types of grenades like flashbangs, thunder flashes, and paint grenades. You can use them to your advantage to distract the enemy and surprise him.

9. Gain intel

Gain as much intel as possible. Learn about the battle arena, your opponent team, their strengths and weaknesses, and much more.

As they say, “knowledge is power,” it is also true in this context.

10. Stay positive and enjoy

Of course, you are there to have fun and that is what you should focus on. You may win or lose, but what matters is that you enjoy yourself with your friends and stay positive.

If you don’t win one game, it doesn’t matter, you’ll win the next time, but if you have fun, it won’t matter to you that you won or lost.
