When it comes to survival, anything goes. Mick Fanning was attacked in the open sea and it happened in front of a giant crowd and a slew of cameras that were on him at the World Surf League J-Bay Open surfing championship.

He survived, mainly because he fought off the attack by punching the shark in the back.
