Here's some bad news for you if you're born with good looks and a genetic advantage over most men. Getting a promotion at work can be tough even if you perform well and are ready for more responsibility.

The condition of being handsome seems to stunt a man's career if they're up for roles in competitive jobs. The study was published in the journal Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.

The research was conducted by the UCL School of Management and says that good-looking guys are viewed as more competent, and managers in workplaces hire a handsome team player over average looking ones.

But good looks make them more threatening to future colleagues, and if managers expect to compete with their empoyees someday, they may discriminate against them.

Which means, being handsome may be your downfall! People get jelly of you!

The same effect for pretty Women was non present because female attractiveness is not associated with competence.
