Ahmed Best isn't a name you probably recognize, but you'll most likely know the character he played: Jar Jar Binks - the most hated alien in all the Star Wars universe. Best was recently interviewed by YouTuber Jamie Stangroom.

Best was asked if the backlash against his character hurt him personally and put him off Star Wars.

“It did put me off Star Wars, but it was painful, it was painful. This character for me, and one of the biggest reasons I took it, was because of the challenge of it — there was no Andy Serkis and Gollum, Navi from Avatar, there was no Martians of John Carter.

“I was to be the template for this, so I was working with George to pioneer this new character form of acting and storytelling. On set we were all just so focused on the challenge of it and having so much fun that the post-Star Wars stuff was kind of a surprise.
