Summer is full swing, bringing with it wonderful weather, longer days and superb seasonal activities.

So to ensure that you don’t let these sizzling days go to waste, here are five fab summer project ideas.

1. Travel

With the sun shining, it’s the perfect time to explore outdoors. So why not create a bucket list and set yourself the challenge of visiting those scenic spots you’ve never seen before?

And remember that travelling doesn’t necessarily mean going abroad or travelling far, because there’s plenty to see and do on your own doorstep – what matters most is that you’re out and about seeing interesting and exciting places.

2. Volunteering

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to get out in the community, tackle social issues and help others, so it’s a worthwhile summer project.

It’s also a great way to meet people with similar interests, as well as new people within your community or further afield, depending on where you volunteer. This article from business site Forbes has more examples of the benefits of volunteering.

3. Socialising

Since when did socialising become a project – I hear you ask. People lead busy lives, and while digital platforms like Facebook make it easy to stay in contact with friends, they don’t compare with face to face meetups.

Sure, you’ll have friends that you see regularly, but you can make it your summer mission to reconnect with ones you don’t. Summer’s when the most exciting activities tend to take place after all, so suggest them to your friends and have some fun together.

4. Writing

Summer tends to be the season where your social life is at its most active and exciting, so writing about your summer shenanigans in a journal or on a blog is good idea. Just ensure that you’re writing regularly, otherwise the memories might start to fade.

Alternatively, you could write something completely unrelated to summer, like a novel – it’s a big project to undertake, but it’ll keep you busy and the thought of that exciting end product will keep you motivated.

5. Online Learning

You’ve been working all year round, so why on earth would you want to spend what little spare time you have studying?

The answer’s simple – it gives you the chance to learn about something you’re interested in with the reward of a recognised qualification. And if you opt for an online course from Anglia Ruskin Distance Learning or a similar institution, you’ll be afforded the flexibility to study when you want from wherever you want – the garden, the park or even the beach.

So if you’re looking for project that’s fun, rewarding and stimulating, enrolling on an online course is a fantastic idea.

All five of these fantastic projects have the potential to keep you occupied and satisfied this summer and beyond – now’s the time to choose the right one for you!
