Here's how you get sick, if your antibodies aren't strong enough: A single 10-second kiss is enough to send 80 million bacteria your way. That's insane! How dirty is the mouth?

The study was conducted in the Netherlands. Professor Remco Kort and his team got 21 couples to fill in a questionaire, and they then took samples from the couple's tongues and saliva to analyze them.

A single kiss can pass on 80 million bacteria.

Scientists got half of each couple to drink a probiotic yoghurt drink containing Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and estimated that 80 million were passed during a 10-second kiss.

They found how much kissing it would take for couples to eventually end up sharing salivary bacteria.

The mouth is home to 700 types of bacteria. 9 kisses a day led to couples sharing more salivary bacteria than not.

Keep clean by kissing yourself!

The idea of 80 million bacteria being introduced in your mouth sounds gross, but that's not stopping us from wanting to pucker up!
