Brazil got off to a bad start in the opening game against Croatia this morning, but that's okay. They still won. And the reason for that is because they've been using the same strategy for many years already and that is: SCORE MORE GOALS THAN THE OTHER TEAM.

Here's a history of their goal-scoring prowess. It is pretty impressive. Check it out below:

Spain 1982

Brazil vs Soviet Union 2-1
Brazil vs Scotland 4-1
Brazil vs New Zealand 4-0
Brazil vs Argentina 3-1

Mexico 1986

Brazil vs Spain 1-0
Brazil vs Algeria 1-0
Brazil vs Northern Ireland 3-0
Brazil vs Poland 4-0

Italy 1990

Brazil vs Sweden 2-1
Brazil vs Costa Rica 1-0
Brazil vs Scotland 1-0

USA 1994

Brazil vs Russia 2-0
Brazil vs Cameroon 3-0
Brazil vs USA 1-0
Brazil vs Netherlands 3-2
Brazil vs Sweden 1-0

France 1998

Brazil vs Scotland 2-1
Brazil vs Morocco 3-0
Brazil vs Chile 4-1
Brazil vs Denmark 3-2

Korea & Japan 2002

Brazil vs Turkey 2-1
Brazil vs China 4-0
Brazil vs Costa Rica 5-2
Brazil vs Belgium 2-0
Brazil vs England 2-1
Brazil vs Turkey 1-0
Brazil vs Germany 2-0

Germany 2006

Brazil vs Croatia 1-0
Brazil vs Australia 2-0
Brazil vs Japan 4-1
Brazil vs Ghana 3-0

South Africa 2010

Brazil vs Korea 2-1
Brazil vs Cote d'Ivoire 3-1
Brazil vs Chile 3-0

Not too bad actually. It works most of the time.

For 32 years already, Brazil hasn't been paying attention to defense. People shouldn't be mad at Marcelo. Just pick up the slack and put the ball into the opponent's net more times than you did at your own.

Here are the highlights if you missed them:

One football fan in India guessed the first goal correctly before the start of the game. Is this guy Paul the Octopus reincarnated?

Okay that was freaky. What's next, John?
