BMW showed off its self driving car at the CES 2014 in Las Vegas. They explain that it is a new kind of research prototype for highly automated driving which uses advanced control technology to demonstrate maximum safety up to the car's dynamic limit".

The M235i prototype runs ActiveAssist, and it can drive itself around a track and is capable of doing no-hands powersliding. It claims that it can predict if the car wants to oversteer or understeer and nip that act in the bud.

BMW also showed off how the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch can be connected wirelessly to an i3 EV via BMW's I Remote App. It receives state of charge and range information and is made aware of whether or not windows are closed and can control the climate too.
