Lexus has took the covers off the new RC coupe and its high performance sibling, the RC F. It will compete with the BMW M4 Coupe and Audi RS5. Lexus also revealed the car's powertrain - a 5.0 liter 32 valve V8 engine.

Lexus will be using the Atkinson cycle for the first time at cruising speed to improve fuel economy numbers before switching to the traditional Otto cycle at higher rpm to boost performance. There are no official numbers yet, but it is stated that the naturally aspirated eight cylinder will deliver more than 450hp over 383 lb-ft of peak torque.

Lexus said that the RC F will hit 60mph (96km/h) "faster than the IS F", which did it in 4.6 seconds, and reach an electronically limited top speed of 168mph (270km/h).
