Lithium-air (Li-Air) is a battery technology being tested to allow EVs to travel further on a single charge. It is not available in production vehicles yet, but they are being used in concepts, like the Hero iON motorcycle that was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Show.

Li-Air works by using oxygen from the surrounding air, without the need to store any internal oxidizer. It is backed up by a hydrogen fuel cell range extender that works the same way as Renault's HyKangoo test vehicles

Claimed performance figures are 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5 seconds flat and a top speed of 160 km/h (100 mph). Range is reportedly 300 km (186 miles).
