A Bimmerpost forum member and alleged BMW insider Scott26 claims that "BMW has confirmed the X2 for introduction in 2017", adding that it will be a sister model to the next generation, FWD-platform based X1.

The X2, will apparently be offered with xDrive and a choice of two body styles, with three and five doors as both the X4 and X6 "Sport Activity Coupes" are available only with five doors.

Will this materialize?
