2014.04.11
Bugatti is set to lift the covers off their fifth model in the six-part Legends Edition at the Beijing Motor Show next week. The new car will pay tribute to the Bugatti Type 18 "Black Bess".
Type 18 was one of the most important Buagttis in the pre-WW1 era. It is powered by a 5.0 liter, 4 cylinder inline engine producing over 99hp, and reached a top speed of 160km/h. Very very fast, considering it was way back in 1910.
There were only seven units built, but now the "Black Bess', which is based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, will succeed that model. It is powered by a 1,184 hp 8 liter W16 engine. It can sprint from 0-100km in 2.6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 408.84 km/h.
Its bodywork is mostly made from carbon fiber and painted in black with gold-colored accents. Some parts will even be coated in 24 carat gold.
The interior is upholstered with leather, from the footwell, seats, headliner to the elongated center console and rear bulkhead in a light "beige" tone.
The dashboard, dash panel, door trim panel and cowl panel are in contrast ”Havanna”. and “Crimson” leather adorns the steering wheel rim as a reference to the historic Type 18 “Black Bess”.
