You Can Let Friends Unlock Your VW with a Smartphone
2015.01.08
VW's CES lineup will show off the Connected Golf - a study that demonstrates the potential networking powers of the e-Golf. It will come with the latest infotainment system, and incorporate “an enormous range of apps, smartphones and tablets via its progressive interface management system.”
The infotainment system can be controlled via a special app and have integration with tablets and smart watches. Aside from that, it will get a new function called Regular Routes, which is a navigation system that detects traffic disruptions and offer alternative routes.
The Parking Guide function will help you find parking sites, and it will also feature the Intelligent Charge system and could possibly offer inductive charging as an alternative to cable-based charging.
Finally there's a Digital Key function which lets third parties use a smartphone or smart watch to gain temporary access to the car and to start or stop the engine.
The future is looking mighty cool.
