When looking for a new motor, most buyers look for practicality, space and fuel economy. That’s all well and good, but cars don’t always have to be practical. Sometimes we just want something fun, fast and exciting.

All the best cars are fun. They should make your spine tingle when you press the accelerator. They should make you smile when you throw them around corners. They should be a joy to drive.

This is what supercars are made for. This is why car manufacturers put all their resources into speed and power. Having said that, you don’t necessarily need a supercar to have all the fun. We’ve pulled together a list of cars that won’t necessarily break the bank. Some might push you close though! There is plenty of fun to be had without splashing out for a Ferrari. Here’s where to start.

1. Mazda MX5

This little sports car is world renowned as one of the most fun cars out there. It’s small, light, close to the ground and you feel every small movement. It grips the road like nothing else in its price range. The little two seater convertible is a great entry to the sports car world. It’s relatively cheap and goes like the wind.

2. Ford Mustang GT

While small and nippy can be fun, so can big and powerful. The Ford Mustang GT is at the other end of the spectrum to the MX5. The GT gets all of its excitement from its sheer size and power. It’s a beast to drive and you can feel the growling, snarling engine under the bonnet. It just adds to the excitement when you can hear the roar of the engine.

3. Porsche Cayman

Porsche have made their living through fun and excitement. The 911 is perhaps the world’s most famous sports car and Porsche have built a fierce reputation from it. However, if you’re willing to splash a little more cash, the Cayman is where you’ll really feel the power. Trust us, you’ve never felt acceleration and grip like it. It will handle anything you can throw at it.

4. Peugeot 207

We understand that not everyone can afford a Porsche. With that in mind, how about a car that’s fun, fast and affordable. Hatchbacks are made for this specific purpose. They’re small and light in order to make the most of their engine capacity. Dealers like Sandles Car Supermarket always have a range of hatchbacks, but the 207 is our favourite. It feels like riding a go kart, it’s that nippy and exciting.

5. Land Rover Range Rover Sport

For the final car on our list, we’ve gone back to the big guns. There’s something special about getting behind the wheel of a large, heavy car. Not only that, but you can take this one off road. Speeding around a track is fun, but wait until you take a car off road. That’s where the real fun lies and the Range Rover will unlock this entire world to you.

There you have it, folks. Five super fun cars that will leave you feeling excited and exhilarated.
