The condition is that it has to be a capless fuel tank and you'll have to park the car with the fuel door towards the robot. The new equipment has been demonstrated at the 2013 Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

The robot apparently shortens the refueling period by 30 percent.
